Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl

The 2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl brought to you by Tim’s Tavern is taking place this Saturday December 7th at 6:00 PM. There will be more than 20 different bars in the Greenwood/Phinney Ridge neighborhood participating in this festive event with proceeds going to help the Greenwood Food Bank.

The cost of the event is $15 with 2 cans of food or $20 without. This includes riding the various shuttles to different establishments as well as the opportunity to purchase drinks at the discounted rate. Make sure you dust off your favorite sweater and make the short trip over to Greenwood for this fun filled evening. Fremont Oktoberfest Starts Today

The annual Fremont Oktoberfest starts today as thousands of people will hit the streets of Fremont to celebrate for the 17th time, this annual tradition. It has been previously featured as a “Top ten place to celebrate in the world”.  With over 100 beers of tap for individuals to try, this all weekend event is sure to have a brew that suits you. The tasting garden will be open as follows with last call a half hour prior to the listed closing time.

  • Friday, September 20 — 5:00pm-12:00midnight*
  • Saturday, September 21 — 11:00am-12:00midnight*
  • Sunday, September 22 — 11:00am-6:00pm**

Sunday morning is the 11th annual 5k run with the finish line in the middle of the Oktoberfest Village. While some may choose a more healthy hydration (boring), others may opt to hydrate themselves with a seasonal beer which is included in your $25 registration for the race.

Greek Festival is Back!

A tradition since 1960, the St. Demetrios Greek Festival returns this year,
September 13, 14 and 15 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood. Traditional Greek food, music, dancing and culture will be in abundance when St. Demetrios Church’s grounds and parking lot, located at 2100 Boyer Avenue East, transform into a Greek paradise. 

Visitors will have plenty of time to enjoy all that the Greek Festival has to offer this year, with hours of operation from noon—9pm on Friday, September 13th; 10am—10pm on Saturday, September 14th and noon—7pm on Sunday, September 15th. As always, admission and parking are free, with free shuttle service offered from both the Seattle Prep Parking Garage and Montlake Elementary School Playground on Saturday and Sunday during festival hours. Bike racks will also be available all weekend

Ballard Viking Day’s Starts Saturday!

It is once again time for the annual Viking Days at the Ballard Nordic Heritage Museum this Saturday & Sunday August 17-18. This annual event will feature authentic food, live music, and plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. Each day starting at 9:00 am there will be a Swedish pancake breakfast followed by a full day of activities lasting until 5:00 pm. 

Along with the various Nordic themed food items, they will also feature authentic music and dance from different local groups. For kids they will have low cost craft stations set up as well as the Nordic Spirit ship available to take pictures with.

PhinneyWood Summer Streets Starts Friday

This Friday and Saturday August 9th & 10th come out to the PhinneyWood Summer Streets which is a huge family friendly party taking place on Greenwood Ave between N 67th and N 88th street. Greenwood Ave will be closed off to traffic during these two days to allow for the many events and games to take place.

Ballard Bike Tour

If you are looking for a way to get outside and enjoy the great summer weather this weekend, consider attending the Sustainable Ballard Seven Wonders Bike Tour. According to their Facebook Event the tour will start this Saturday July 20th at the Ballard Commons Park on 22nd Avenue Northwest & Northwest 58th Street at 9 am.

While they do not list what the seven wonders of Ballard are, with so many to choose from we are confident it will be worth the time. This “easy ride” will be a great way to fit in a workout while enjoying several things that make Ballard so special.

Ballard Seafood Festival is Back!

This weekend July 13-14 is the annual Ballard Seafood Festival taking place in the heart of downtown Ballard. This annual summer event will showcase various food vendors who will dish out many of the northwest’s most classic seafood dishes as well many other delicious treats! Don’t worry if seafood is not your cup of tea, there will also be various arts and craft booths, non profit vendors, as well as a beer garden that will offer many of the finest local beers around!

Ballard Edible Garden Tour

This Saturday June 29th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm there will be a walking garden tour of local Ballard gardens.  If you are in need of creative ideas for your own home gardens or just want to view various Ballard ones, this tour will be a great opportunity. They will also have on hand different local gardening experts who will be able to answer any of your questions as well as provide tips for your own personal gardens. 

The tour will start at the parking lot West of Trinity United Methodist Church (6512 23rd Avenue NW) and from there you will walk to various gardens throughout the Ballard neighborhood. Tickets for this event are $10 each (children are free) and that includes a raffle ticket to win various garden themed prizes.

Ballard Classic Home Tour

This Sunday June 23rd will be the 6th triennial Ballard Classic Home Tour where you will be able to walk through some of Ballard’s most historic properties. This is the  Ballard Historical Society’s largest fundraiser and it allows the non-profit organization the ability to provide various free lectures throughout the year as well as participate in other Ballard community events. The BHS was founded in 1988 to celebrate and preserve the Ballard culture. 

The house tour starts at Sunset Hill Community Clubhouse, 3003 N.W. 66th St in Ballard and runs from 10am to 4pm. The cost is $20 per person and you can buy your tickets at the Ballard Classic Home Tour website.
