Ballard SeafoodFest Is This Weekend!

seafoodAs a neighborhood with deep maritime roots, it’s only fitting that Ballard would have an entire festival devoted to seafood. The 40th anniversary of the Ballard SeafoodFest (and second iteration of the accompanying BeerFest), takes over Market Street and Ballard Avenue this weekend with more than 20 food vendors offering everything from Filipino-style seafood to Northwest crab cakes and, of course, the traditional salmon barbecue.

BeerFest has expanded this year, and will be featuring some familiar names from around the neighborhood at its new spot near the main music stage at 22nd Avenue NW and Ballard Avenue. Look for Hilliard’s, Reuben’s, Stoup, Bad Jimmy’s, NW Peaks, and Peddler, along with many more breweries from around the Northwest. 14 ounce beers are $5.00, and there will be wine for $7 for all of you non-beer-drinkers. For more family-friendly activities, head to Ballard Commons Park for the skateboard competition, the giant kids’ slide, and vendors offering a wide array of stuff just for kids. Make sure to come back on Sunday afternoon for the kids’ superhero costume contest and the raffle drawing – the grand prize is two tickets on Iceland Air!

Festivities are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, and BeerFest wraps up at 10:00 each night. Click here for a full schedule of the events!

Bastille Day and Seafoodfest… Busy Weekend in Ballard!

Not only will Ballard be bustling with seafood crazed locals this weekend, it will also host patrons celebrating the French National Independence Day, Bastille Day! Where do you think will be the happening venue in town to host such festivities? Bastille of course, will have a variety of specials, including $5 wine and cocktails, oysters and baguette sandwiches, as well as entertainment on their outdoor patio, beginning at 2pm.

Bastille will also host a pétanque tournament, a traditional french game similar to croquet, $5 per person, bragging rights free of charge. Bastille is just blocks away from where the Annual SeafoodFest will be serving up all kinds of Northwest seafood fare, general rules state that every vendor must serve at least one seafood item on their menu. Vendors and stages will line up along 22nd Ave NW, come on down and hangout with the neighbors this weekend!

Seafoodfest Is Here This Weekend!

The much anticipated Ballard Seafoodfest is finally here this weekend, and Ballardites are getting things started with a neighborhood BBQ kickoff this Friday, to benefit the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial at the Ballard Elks. The BBQ will have live music from a local band playing Johnny Cash, food from Smokin Pete’s BBQ, and of course, beer from local favorite Maritime Pacific Brewery

Saturday events begin from 11am-9pm, and Sunday festivities run from 11am-7pm, and feature beer gardens, a lukefish eating contest, hearty salmon BBQ, and even doggie stations from local businesses to host your furry friends for a dip in a kiddie pool, and free treats. There will also be live entertainment at several stages throughout the day, with performances by local and visiting accordion musicians on the main stage, and storytelling and juggling on the kids stage. Come on down to Ballard this weekend, and checkout the Seafood weekend festivities!

Ballard SeafoodFest Needs Help With Funding!

Seattleites come from near and far every year to attend the annual Ballard SeafoodFest, and this year for the first time ever they’re asking for help to fund this year’s event. They’ve already launched a campaign on, a website that allows individuals and groups to fundraiser for creative projects and events, that will only allow the group to receive the funding if they meet their goal in an allotted amount of time! So far they’ve raised $350 of the $5,000 they hope to gain in the next two weeks.

This year will mark the 38th annual SeafoodFest, which originally began as a 1 day salmon BBQ cookout to raise money for the Ballard Chamber of Commerce. Over the years the event has grown massively by popular demand, and has remained free admission, with the exception for donation. This year they’re planning ahead and fundraising prior to the event, to steer from asking for donations while on stage, etc. Visit the Ballard SeafoodFest website today for more information.
